Supporting learning at home

At Bedmond Village Primary and Nursery school we offer parent/carer workshops which detail how you, as co-educators, can provide support for your child’s learning. Although we appreciate that you all have busy lives, we hope that you will be able to attend and that every child is represented by an adult during their education.

As last year, we will be using our website to share home learning tasks. As well as being more environment friendly, this has been as a result of feedback from parents/carers as pieces of homework often got mislaid on the way home from school. Please log-in to your child's class page to access the various tasks. As of September 2016, home learning tasks for Yr.2 to 6 pupils will be activity book based and the class home page (as well as your child's reading & learning journal) will detail which pages need to be completed.

Below you will see how you can get involved with your child's  learning at Bedmond school. Each class have their own specific learning tasks set every week which are detailed.

If you have any questions regarding how you can further support your child's learning please book a time to talk to your class teacher.

Each child will bring home a home communication book, with weekly information about up-coming events and any other important information for you to consider.

Weekly Challenge ~ Each week, a challenge will be set. This is something to try at home with your child to enrich their learning in class.

Daily Mystery Bag ~ The Mystery Bag is used to stimulate talk in our Show and Tell sessions. One child is chosen to take the bag home to choose one item to share with their friends on the next day.

Thursday Library ~ Each child has opportunity to visit our library during Thursday mornings to choose a library book. Please make sure library books are returned on the following Thursday.

In the summer term, the children will begin looking at books in the Oxford Reading Tree, to familiarise themselves with the characters and to learn key sounds and letters to help them develop their early literacy skills.
