Lunch Time

Lunch Time

Our lunch break begins at 12 pm and the children have an hour to eat their lunch and have time outside. School meals are offered to all of our children from Reception upwards by Babs and Tracy, our wonderful staff from Hertfordshire Catering, and are freshly cooked on site daily.

Our children are offered a choice of meals each day; pupils make their selection each morning from the the Pupil Choice Menu. Menus are rotated on a three-weekly basis and offer a hot meat or fish, a hot vegetarian, a jacket potato or a sandwich option. Vegetables and salad are always available too.

Visit here for more information about Herts Catering and access to their menus.

 Universal Free School Meals

All pupils in Reception and Years 1 & 2 (Key Stage 1) are now eligible for  free school meals under the Universal Free School Meal scheme.  We strongly encourage all of these children to take up this wonderful offer and enjoy our delicious school meals. For all our children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 (Key Stage 2) the daily meal cost for the 2016-17 academic year is: £2.30. Payment is required on the Monday before the meal is taken; we encourage parents to pay weekly or half termly with invoices issued half-termly in advance to aid with family budgeting (payment can now be made on-line - see below).

Alternatively, pupils may bring packed lunches from home; parents are requested to include healthy choices in the lunches and there should be no chocolate or fizzy drinks. The school has a no nuts policy, as we have children in school with severe nut allergies which could be life-threatening and so please ensure that peanut butter or nut products are kept for home.

Free School Meals

As we receive £1300 per child, we urge all parents who think they are entitled to Free School Meal/ Pupil Premium to apply even if your child is entitled to a meal under the Universal Free School Meals scheme.

Free School Meals are available for children of families on low incomes. Find out more information.

You can now make payments online to school via debit or credit card
We are pleased to announce that we are introducing a new service to parents called 'School Gateway'.
This means that you will be able to make online payments via the School Gateway app or website for school dinners, swimming, school trips and soon clubs.  You will also be able to view school meal balances and top them up at any time.
We will notify you when new items such as school trips or tickets for F.A.B events are available for payment via School Gateway.  You will also be able to give online consent, where required, for your child to take part in activities.
Aside from saving the school time and money on our administration, School Gateway will also make it easier for you, as parents, to pay any time 24-7 and reduce the amount of cash being carried by children on school premises.
What you need to do now
Activate your School Gateway account.  Its quick and easy to do.  All you need is your email address and mobile number that our school holds on record for you.
  • Download the app:  If you have a smart phone, please download School Gateway from app store (android and iphone).  The app shows the same information as the website.

  • Visit the website: and click on 'New User'.  You'll receive a text message with a pin number.  Use this PIN number to log into our School Gateway.
If you're having trouble logging in, it may be because we do not have your current email and/ or mobile telephone number on record.  Please call the school and we can update your details on our system.
