School in the Community

Working with the local and wider community is of high importance to all of us at Bedmond Village Primary. The school is continually developing opportunities for community cohesion. As a school we include everyone and organise various events throughout the school year.

The school always looks for new ways to involve the wider community in school life and get involved with activities and events in the local area too. We have an excellent reputation in the local community and each year our summer fair attracts a large number of local people.

We also actively encourage the children to respect the people in our community in many ways, for example, organising collections for local charities, serving at the village coffee morning and singing at family services at the 'Tin Church'. During our Harvest festival celebrations, we hold a Scarecrow festival and visit one of the local farms to gain a greater understanding how hard  farmers work.

During our Christmas festivities, the children created their own tree decorations and hang them on the Christmas tree in the village to the delight of all.

Flower Festival July 2016
We were pleased to be invited to take part in the local church flower festival. Our entry reflected Malaysia as part of the whole festival theme of the Commonwealth as part of Queen's birthday celebrations. Many thanks to Wendy or Nora for helping our children to produce such an amazing entry.
Clean for the Queen, March 2016
Children from our school recently joined the national campaign to 'Clean for the Queen'. A group from our upper years, armed with litter pickers and bin bags, cleared the neighbouring park of litter in respect for her Majesty's upcoming birthday.
Mother's and Carer's Afternoon Tea March 2016
Our annual afternoon tea for those special ladies in our lives is always a popular event but the 2016 afternoon was the best attended yet. Not only did the children make sure that their visitors were refreshed with tea, sandwiches, scones and Babs's special apple cake, courtesy of Herts. Catering, but they are also entertained by the whole school choir.
Art Gallery 2016

What a success the Art Week was! As always, the quality of creative art produced by all classes meant that the Art Gallery looked stunning. All of the children learnt new skills during the week and, because of our theme of 'Celebrating Culture adn Diversity, we all learnt about artists and art around the world too. As always, our Year Six representatives also did a fantastic job of serving drinks and canapés at the event.

Tough Ten 2014, 2015, 2016

Congratulations to all of our runners who took part in the Tough Ten race in October. All of our runners were incredible and many of them beat their times from last year for which they should be really proud; all of the extra training clearly paid off. Not only were they fast, but all those taking part showed the important life skills of determination and perseverance.

As a sponsored event 50% of the money raised will be coming to our school for which we are very grateful; we will of course let you know the final sponsorship figure when all the money has been collected.  Well done to all our Team Bedmond runners.
