Bedmond Village Primary and Nursery is a one-form entry Nursery and Primary school for children age 4 – 11. The standard admission number is 30 per year group (2016-17). The Nursery is mornings only (until 12:00pm) Monday to Friday.
Children attend the main school on a full time basis from the beginning of the term in which they become five. The Primary Admissions team at Herts County Council manages the schools admission policy. There are two separate admissions for Nursery and Primary.
Admission to the Nursery
In the academic year in which a child turns three (1st September – 31st August), his or her parents will receive information from Hertfordshire County Council about how to apply for a place at a local nursery school. Children start in nursery in the academic year in which a child turns four. Bedmond school has one intake in September.
The Herts County Council online application system opens (usually at the beginning of February) and closes (usually mid-March). Parents are invited to go and look around local schools before making their application.
The school applies the Herts County admission rules to each application and allocates places accordingly. Please contact the school directly should you have any further queries.
Admission to Reception
This process is repeated in the academic year in which the child is four. The Herts County Council online application system opens (usually at the beginning of November) and closes (usually mid- January). Parents are then invited to apply for a Primary place in the Reception class.
All applications to Reception are dealt with by the Hertfordshire County Council. Parents/carers will need to fill out a Common Application Form. In the case of a greater number of applications than spaces available, places will be allocated according to the oversubscription criteria which are detailed on the Hertfordshire County Council Website. This form should also be filled out by any parent wishing to enroll their child during the academic year.
For In-Year applications please contact Herts County Council on 0300 123 4043. If there are no spaces in your chosen class, you can request to go on a waiting list. Once a space becomes available, this is then allocated by County, in accordance with Herts Admission rules.
